Cranklytics · Last updated 27 October 2026
The short version. Cranklytics turns your ride files into numbers and charts. Your rides belong to you. We use them only to show them back to you. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers. You can download everything, or delete your account and all your data, from inside the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Cranklytics is run by Think Launcher (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@cranklytics.app. We are the party responsible for the personal information described here.
2. What we collect
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Your account | Your email address and how you sign in (email and password, or Google), plus an account ID. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address (and name). We never see or store your password; the sign-in service looks after it. |
| Your profile | The body weight and sex you choose to enter. They are used to turn watts into watts per kilogram and to pick the right reference table. |
| Ride files you upload | Files from your bike computer or another app (.fit, .tcx, .gpx, or zips of them). They hold when and where you rode (a GPS track and altitude), distance, speed, and power, heart rate and cadence if your device recorded them, plus information about the device. We keep each original file exactly as you uploaded it. |
| What we work out from them | Your best powers, estimated FTP, rider type and scores, route and elevation summaries, and the data behind your charts and reports. |
| Your choices | If you tap “Tell me when it’s ready” on an upcoming feature, we save that choice with your account so we can tell you in the app when the feature launches. We do not email you because of it. |
| Technical information | When the app talks to our server, the server's ordinary logs record your IP address, the time and the request. Our sign-in provider keeps its own sign-in logs. |
| On your phone | Your light or dark choice. The app does not ask for your phone's location. The only location in Cranklytics is the location inside ride files you choose to upload. |
Your weight, sex, ride and heart-rate data are fitness and body information. In some places the law treats that as sensitive. We use it only to provide the features you ask for, never for marketing, and never sell it.
3. Why we use it
- To read your files, work out your numbers and show them to you (rides, maps, charts, rider type, reports, exports).
- To keep your account secure and to stop misuse.
- To find and fix problems, and to keep the service running.
- To follow the law.
We do not use your data to advertise, to profile you for others, or to train anything for other people.
4. Who can see your data
- You, signed in to your account. Each rider's data is kept separate, and the server checks your sign-in on every request.
- Our service providers, only so they can run the service for us:
- Google (Firebase Authentication) handles sign-in, passwords, and password-reset emails, and Google sign-in.
- Render hosts our server and stores your data on disk, in its Singapore region.
- Authorities, only if the law requires us to hand something over.
- Nobody else. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. If we ever add sharing (for example, letting a coach see your progress), it will only happen when you choose to turn it on.
Our nightly backup copies are stored with Cloudflare (its R2 storage service).
If we add new features that change how your data is used (for example, creating workouts with an AI service), we will update this policy and tell you in the app first.
5. Where your data is kept
Your rides and files are stored on our server in Singapore. Your sign-in details are held by Google, which runs systems in several countries, including the United States. By using Cranklytics you understand your information is handled in these places.
6. Maps and your privacy
For a real (outdoor) ride, the map in the app leaves out the first and last 200 metres, so it does not show exactly where you live. Please know the limits of this: it only changes what the map shows. Your original file, and the zip you can download, contain the whole recording. Rides recorded on a virtual-ride platform (for example TrainingPeaks Virtual or Zwift) take place in a game world, so their course is shown in full.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep your data for as long as you have an account.
- When you delete your account in the app (Settings, Your data, Delete my account), all of your rides, files and profile are removed from our server straight away, and your login is removed from the sign-in service.
- Server logs are kept only for a short period, as set by our hosting provider.
- We keep a nightly backup copy of the whole service for 14 days, then it is deleted automatically. If you delete your account, your data is removed from the live service straight away but can remain in those backups until they expire, at most 14 days. Our hosting provider also takes automatic daily snapshots of the server's disk for disaster recovery, and keeps each for seven days; deleted data can remain in those for up to seven days.
8. Your choices and rights
- See it: everything we hold about your riding is shown in the app.
- Correct it: change your weight and sex any time in Settings.
- Take it with you: Settings, Your data, Download my data gives you one zip with your original files, your ride list and your profile.
- Delete it: Settings, Your data, Delete my account.
- Ask us: email support@cranklytics.app about anything else, such as access to information in logs. We will answer within a reasonable time.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom these include the right to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your data protection authority. In Australia you may complain to us first, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). Our legal basis for using your information is that it is needed to provide the service you asked for (and, for security and fixing problems, our legitimate interest in running a safe service).
9. Security
The released app talks to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Every request must carry a valid sign-in, and each rider's library is kept apart from the others. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.
10. Children
Cranklytics is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to you, such as a new way we use your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
